The American Business Council Nigeria, in collaboration with fellow AmChams in West Africa and the U.S.-Africa Business Center of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, participated in the inaugural AmCham Business Summit for the sub-region. The historic summit, themed “U.S. Business Partnership with Africa”, was held from May 11–14, 2025, in Côte d’Ivoire, on the sidelines of the CEO Forum.
The multi-day event brought together a high-powered U.S. business delegation, representatives from U.S. government agencies—including the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), U.S. EXIM Bank, and the Acting Assistant Secretary for Africa, Ambassador Troy Fitrell—as well as Ministers and key officials from Côte d’Ivoire and across West Africa.
Ambassador Troy Fitrell outlined a six-point agenda for Africa, emphasizing commercial partnerships based on mutual respect and equality, and previewed an upcoming meeting between President Biden and African leaders.
The Summit recorded over $550 million in business deals, reflecting the strategic importance of the platform.
