Celebrating Black History Month
February 18 @ 8:00 am - February 22 @ 5:00 pm

The American Business Council Nigeria (ABC) partnered with Black History and Lifestyle—an affiliate member of the Council—and its founder, Eziada Folashade Balogun, alongside the University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts and the African Theatre Arts Society (ATARS), founded by Bayo Akinfemi, to commemorate Black History Month.
The five-day celebration, held from February 18th to 22nd, featured a powerful three-day dance drama titled Rhythms of Triumph. Directed by Bayo Akinfemi and choreographed by Segun Adefila and Anindo Marshall, the performance showcased a talented ensemble including Januchi Egbuho, Elena Nicholson, and students from the University of Southern California and California State University, Northridge. The production honored Black Excellence, spotlighting
the historic and ongoing achievements of Black individuals across generations and continents.
As part of the event, ABC’s CEO and Executive Secretary, Margaret Olele, delivered remarks on the theme “The Dignity of Labour”. She underscored the importance of strong work ethics and encouraged individuals to take pride in their efforts and pursue excellence, particularly timely as the world prepares to mark World Theatre Day in the coming month.
