On May 12, the American Business Council (ABC), in collaboration with key AmChams in West and Central Africa, the U.S.-Africa Business Center of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and a U.S. private sector delegation, paid a strategic visit to the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on the margins of the CEO Forum.
The delegation was received by Acting Executive Director Alex Severens, along with senior leadership of the Bank, who provided valuable insights into AfDB’s project financing priorities and the vast opportunities available to U.S. companies. With nearly $10 billion in annual project financing across its 54 member countries, the AfDB presents a significant platform for U.S. firms looking to grow their commercial footprint in Africa. Notably, Nigeria remains the Bank’s largest shareholder.
The American Business Council continues to collaborate with the AfDB through the AfDB Series in Nigeria, an ongoing initiative that connects the U.S. private sector with financing opportunities. In partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service in Nigeria, these engagements are aimed at amplifying U.S. business participation in Nigeria and fostering robust local partnerships.
