
On 12 of February 2026, the American Business Council Nigeria held its quarterly meeting with the Nigeria Customs Service to discuss improving the ease of doing business for U.S. companies and the private sector. The CEO/Executive Secretary commended the Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi, for advancing modernization and stakeholder engagement within the Service and also highlighted the challenges faced by members. The Council acknowledged progress with the B’Odogwu digital platform, Advance Rulings, and the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme, while noting ongoing challenges such as regulatory misalignment, system downtime, and incomplete AEO benefits. ABC recommended stronger interagency coordination, improved IT infrastructure, and full implementation of AEO and single-window systems to enhance trade efficiency. Members present included representatives from HP, Cisco, Deloitte, ExxonMobil, Chevron, IHS Towers, The Coca-Cola Company, and others, alongside representatives from the U.S. Commercial Service. Amaka Onyemelukwe of The Coca-Cola Company highlighted the value of the NCS–ABC engagements, noting that a seven-year dispute involving the company was successfully resolved through the platform. The Secretariat also appreciated the Deloitte team, particularly Chijioke Odo, for supporting the preparation of the meeting feedback. The Council will Hold the next quarterly meeting with Customs.
